In the KQEN Business Spotlight:
Umpqua Dairy is expanding and is now producing and distributing organic milk from its Roseburg production facility for the first time in the company’s 87 year history.
Chief Operating Officer Steve Feldkamp says the company is always looking at how they can better serve their customers and notes that the demand for organic products has increased dramatically. Feldkamp says the company expects the product to benefit customers, employees, and the local community. He says Umpqua Dairy will likely need to invest in equipment and personnel to keep up with demand.
While Umpqua Dairy has distributed an organic milk product in the past, this is the first time that it is being 100% produced in Douglas County from 100% Oregon cows.
Umpqua Dairy recently received the highest national award from the Quality Chekd Dairy Association. The award recognized the best overall dairy company within the association comprised of dairies throughout the United States and Latin America.
Umpqua Dairy’s new organic milk is already available at dozens of grocery stores including Sherm’s Thunderbird Market and Market of Choice.
