A free drive-thru flu vaccination clinic will be held Saturday at the Douglas County Fairgrounds.
Dr. Bob Dannenhoffer, Executive Director of the Douglas Public Health Network says up to 2,000 people can receive the vaccine for free. Dannenhoffer says that will make it the largest drive thru vaccination clinic ever to take place in Oregon.
The clinic is being held on the final day of National Influenza Vaccination Week. Dannenhoffer says It is important to get the flu vaccine, noting that the usual nominal cost is much less than what will be spent by someone who gets the a bad case of the flu and ends up with medical bills that come from being hospitalized. This event however brings the cost to zero, allowing anyone to get vaccinated regardless of their financial or insurance situation.
To save a few minutes, people going to the clinic on Saturday should go to www.dispenseassist.net/flu.html and fill out the information needed for getting the free flu shot, in advance. Otherwise the short form will have to be filled out before a shot is given.
The drive-thru flu vaccination clinic will be held Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. at the fairgrounds. Volunteers will help direct people to the correct location.
