With only hours until the deadline for turning in ballots, the number of people voting remains low.
Douglas County Clerk Patti Hitt says as of early Monday afternoon only 38% of county voters have turned in their ballot. That’s just under 24,000 votes out of around 63,000 people that are registered to cast a ballot.
Ballots can be turned in to the clerk’s office inside the courthouse or taken to drop boxes located throughout the county.
Those drop boxes are located in front of the courthouse, in the parking lot just east of the Douglas County headquarters library, at the county annex in Reedsport and at city halls in Sutherlin, Myrtle Creek, Winston, Canyonville, Glendale, and Yoncalla.
Ballots are due back by 8:00 p.m. on Tuesday night.
