A Winston man was arrested in Coos County Thursday night and charged with endangering a highway worker, among other counts.
Information from the Coos County Sheriff’s Office says multiple law enforcement agencies were on the scene of a rollover accident on Highway 42 just east of Myrtle Point when the incident took place at about 11:00 p.m. Division Commander Pat Downing says that as police were investigating the accident, a vehicle came upon the scene and drove into the wrong lane. It then reportedly went past a safety zone and headed towards the officers.
Commander Downing says police were able to use their flashlights to signal the driver to stop. Once officers contacted the driver, they noticed a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle. The driver admitted to smoking marijuana before driving according to the report. He consented to field sobriety tests.
At the conclusion of those tests, 18 year old Roy Fenn was arrested for driving under the influence. Deputies allegedly located a small amount of marijuana and marijuana paraphernalia. Fenn was charged with DUII, reckless driving, reckless endangering and for recklessly endangering a highway worker.
Roy Fenn is being held in the Coos County Jail.
