Supermarket Saturday is back in Roseburg for a second year.
Six grocery stores along with Brooke Communications and the News Review, is sponsoring a gigantic community-wide food drive to support the United Community Action Network Food Bank. On April 2nd from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. customers are asked to help by contributing non-perishable food items at any of the stores. The goal is to raise 34,000 pounds of food. Cash donations will be accepted as well.
Albertsons, Fred Meyer, Grocery Outlet, Safeway, Sherm’s and Walmart are all joining in the drive to help those who need food. Every $10 donated leverages forty pounds of food to support the food bank. That’s equal to two bags of groceries.
New this year, thanks to the sponsorship of Jiffy Lube and Champion Car Wash, someone will win tickets for “The Price is Right” show at the Hult Center in Eugene. At Safeway, contestants will play grocery games to win the tickets.
