The Douglas Education Service District is launching the “100 of $150 Club” to secure free admission for kids who take part in the YMCA-Douglas ESD PartnerSports Camp, coming up in July.
Information from the ESD says the clubs goal is to register at least 100 donors pledging $150 each to cover the cost of camper participation. This is the camp’s 11th year. It is open to students from all of Douglas County.
The annual camp pairs 50 campers with disabilities and 50 partners without disabilities. PartnerSports Camp’s two week schedule focuses mostly on sports, but also features traditional camp activities like fishing, hiking, crafts and campfire cooking. Every partner has the chance to gain experience working with a camper and understand the daily challenges that each faces.
One hundred donations of $150 will allow each child to participate free of charge.
Donations may come from individuals, businesses or other groups. Contributions can be sent the Douglas ESD at 1871 Northeast Stephens in Roseburg, 97470. The donation drive will take place through May 31st. Donations are tax deductible.
Formerly known as Camp Shriver, PartnerSports Camp is a cooperative effort of Douglas ESD and the YMCA of Douglas County. Most camp activities take place at the YMCA on Stewart Parkway in Roseburg.
