The Douglas County Parks Department is seeking public input in the formulation of a Local Parks Master Plan. A town hall meeting will be held next Tuesday January 5th at the Church Annex next to the Douglas County Courthouse.
Staff says the focus of the meeting will be for the public to share their ideas regarding the future management of parks in the ÒActiveÓ category. ÒActiveÓ parks are defined as those that have things like RV and/or tent camping, that support commercial activity, have yurts, camping cabins, RV parks with intensive recreational facilities, interpretive centers, meeting facilities, educational facilities, playgrounds and other infrastructure.
So far the Local Parks Master Plan includes 16 parks identified as ÒActiveÓ. ÊThat includes Mildred Kanipe, Half Moon Bay, River Forks, WhistlerÕs Bend and others.
For more information call the Douglas County Parks Department at 957-7001. The January 5th meeting will begin at 7:00 p.m.
