Staff with the Roseburg VA Health Care System says that more drivers are needed to get veterans to and from medical appointments at the VA.
Public Affairs Officer Shanon Goodwin says the VA is currently low on drivers, which is affecting the care of veterans and their access to care. Volunteer drivers are needed in the Roseburg, Eugene, North Bend and the surrounding areas.
Goodwin says to become a volunteer driver people must have a valid state issued driver’s license, a clean driver’s record, current liability insurance, pass a VA issued health screening and physical which is paid for by the VA, and pass a fingerprint background check.
For more information about becoming a volunteer driver call the VA in Roseburg at 440-1000 extension 45311.
