Burnt sugar from a science experiment led to a short evacuation at Roseburg High on Tuesday morning.
Assistant Principal Adam Blue says when the fire alarm went off people in all buildings were evacuated to one of four designated locations around the campus. That includes three parking lot locations and at the football field. Blue says there was no fire, only smoke, so students and staff were not in any danger. He says the Roseburg Fire Department was able to clear the smoke from the classroom so everyone could return to their classes.
The evacuation lasted for about 40 minutes, starting at about 8:30 a.m.
