A Roseburg woman is in the Douglas County Jail on assault and other charges following a hit and run accident on Wednesday afternoon.
A report from Roseburg Police says at about 2:50 p.m. the 31 year old woman was going east on Harvard when she allegedly made an illegal U-turn at Harvard and Madrone. The report says she struck a pedestrian signal post and careened off the post into a pickup that was leaving the Texaco gas station.
The RPD report says the woman fled the scene going north on Mardone Street. Several witnesses pursued her and blocked her in on Laurelwood Court. The woman reportedly got out of her vehicle and assaulted one witness, and harassed a second one before police arrived.
Nicole Pedersen was charged with fourth degree assault, DUII, two counts of hit and run-property, and for harassment. Pedersen is being held on $31,250 bail.
