Fire managers with the Umpqua National Forest have taken over management of both the Umpqua North Complex and the Falcon Complex of fires.
Cheryl Caplan of the Forest Service says that cooler and wetter weather has slowed fire growth.
People with questions about fire activity within the fires that are part of the Falcon Complex should call the Tiller Ranger District office at 541-825-3100. Questions about the fires on the North Douglas and Diamond Lake ranger districts within the Umpqua North Complex should go to the North Umpqua Ranger Station at 541-496-3532. Updates are also available on the Umpqua National Forest Facebook page.
Cheryl Caplan says that work on all fires is now focused on suppression repair which includes removing slash and falling hazard trees along roads used as emergency fire lines. When that work is completed, the fires will be in patrol status. That means staff will monitor activity.
Some road, area, and trail closures remain in place for public and firefighter safety. For more information visit the Umpqua National Forest website at www.fs.usda.gov/umpqua.
