One man was taken into custody following a three and a half hour standoff in the parking lot of Fast Stop Market in Green.
Just after 9:30 a.m. Thursday troopers from Oregon State Police made what was called a “high risk” traffic stop on Highway 99 just north of the intersection with Highway 42. Within a few minutes, several police units rushed to the scene when the motorist apparently would not leave his vehicle. Highway 99 was closed from Highway 42 to just north of the standoff and motorists were turned around. .
A SWAT team arrived at 12:20 p.m. bringing 12 to 15 vehicles to the store property. After the SWAT team members were in place, the man was eventually convinced to surrender. That happened just after 12:50 p.m.
While speculation has been rampant on social media, authorities have yet to provide information on the man involved in the standoff.
Additional details as they become available.
