Vehicles spun around in an intersection during a two car wreck on Friday morning.
A report from the Roseburg Police says that at about 8:20 a.m. a 20 year old driver was westbound on Stewart Parkway. A second driver, age 88, was turning left from Mercy Drive to head eastbound on Stewart Parkway. The second driver reportedly thought she had enough time to clear the first vehicle, but did not, and collided with it.
The impact caused both vehicles to spin around. The second driver accelerated during the collision, and continued backwards at a high rate of speed. Her vehicle went down Mercy Drive for over 100 yards, finally stopping when it hit a curb.
The second driver’s vehicle appeared to be totaled but the first vehicle was drivable.
The 88 year old woman was taken to Mercy Medical Center but she was immediately released. The other driver was not hurt.
The elderly woman was cited for failure to yield before entering a highway.
