A local member of Toastmasters has received the group’s highest award.
Jim Daniel, member of the Wonderful Oregon Wordmasters Toastmasters of Roseburg has been named a Distinguished Toastmaster. That title is held by less than 1% of the 400,000 members of the worldwide organization, according to a press release from the local group.
Daniel completed a High Performance Leadership project as part of the Distinguished Toastmasters requirements. His project was a community service event that took planning, fund raising, and completing coordination. WOW Club President Becky Holm says that Daniel also completed a very involved list of educational, mentoring, communication, and leadership projects to achieve the award. She said that his being a member of both the Roseburg Toastmasters and the WOW group helped him to complete the work.
Toastmasters is a non-profit club dedicated to the education of its members to help them achieve better leadership and communication skills.
WOW Toastmasters meets every Tuesday afternoon at 5:30 p.m. in room 311 of the Douglas County Courthouse. Roseburg Toastmasters meets Thursday morning at 6:45 a.m. in the conference room of the YMCA.
