A Myrtle Creek man is in the Douglas County Jail for assaulting a public safety officer, and for other charges. Officer Kevin Taggart says that Thursday afternoon around 4:40 p.m. an officer spotted 57 year old Bruce Abercrombie near the corner of Spruce and Waite. The officer reportedly knew the man was intoxicated and saw him driving.

The man allegedly tried to walk away from the stop and pushed an officer that was on the scene. Police eventually deployed a taser to subdue the man before taking him into custody. The report from Myrtle Creek Police says the man had a .14 blood alcohol content when he was tested after getting to the jail.

In addition to the assault charge, the man was held for resisting arrest and for DUII.  Bruce Abercrombie is being held on $66,250 bail.
