It’s a project that has been in the planning stages for over a decade, and now the South Stewart Parkway Improvement Project is in full swing.
Stewart Parkway is now closed between Harvey Avenue near the YMCA and by Staples on Valley View Drive. The closure will be in place through the middle of September. The only exception is that southbound traffic can still get into the Ford Family Foundation offices.
Traffic on Stewart Parkway is being detoured onto Keasey Street in the Hucrest neighborhood. Motorists are asked to slow down and watch for residents entering and leaving their driveway. Speed humps and radar trailers are on Keasey as a reminder for drivers to watch their speed.
Work hours for the project are 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays but the closure of Stewart Parkway is 24 hours a day. When work is completed the road will have additional traffic lanes, sidewalks, bike lanes, detention ponds, lighting and other features.
There is a long list of work happening in the area over the next two weeks. Complete details are posted at www.cityofroseburg.org.
