Motorists traveling between Harvard Avenue and downtown Roseburg should watch for nighttime detours starting Sunday night.
Dan Latham from the Oregon Department of Transportation says that prime contractor Carter and Company will repair and resurface the decks of the Oak and Washington Avenue bridges. The work is scheduled for five consecutive nights.
Latham says that for the first few nights, the Oak Avenue Bridge will be closed to all traffic from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m. During that closure, the nearby Washington Avenue Bridge will be open to two-way traffic, with flaggers at each end of the bridge. Motorists should expect congestion and delays.
Dan Latham says the process will be reversed later in the week when the Washington Avenue Bridge is closed at night and the Oak Avenue Bridge will carry two-way traffic.
During daytime hours, drivers should watch for single-lane closures on both bridges and throughout the work zone.
The Oregon 138E Corridor Solutions project is scheduled for completion on June 28th though some corrective work is likely to continue into the summer months.
