Motorists on Stewart Parkway should expect brief delays Thursday evening and early Friday due to repair work on the South Umpqua Bridge.
Dan Latham of the Oregon Department of Transportation says that traffic will be limited to a single lane between 7:00 p.m. and 7:00 a.m. on Friday. Flaggers will provide traffic control.
Latham says the lane closure will allow workers to finish replacing the expansion joints at each end of the bridge. Construction began on Monday night. Nearby residents should expect noise consistent with bridge construction.
Latham says the deck repairs are part of a $1.35 million dollar bundle of projects involving 21 bridges in southern Oregon. Guido Construction is the prime contractor.
