Citing some recent confusion, staff with the City of Roseburg says they want to make a clarification regarding the status of the much anticipated playground and splash pad project at Fir Grove Park.
A press release says the City Council recently rejected all bids for the equipment installation as a result of higher than expected installation bids. The release says the decision was not a denial of the project but it was a delay to ensure that the project proceeds in an efficient and affordable way. City staff anticipates reevaluating the project and rebidding it in the fall or winter of this year.
The release says the City of Roseburg wants to thank those who donated money and time to the effort so far. Major donors for the project include:
*The Oregon Parks and Recreation Department
*Roseburg Morning Rotary
*The Ford Family Foundation
*The Heislein family
*Pacific Power Foundation
*Cow Creek Umpqua Indian Foundation
*The Bruce family
*Douglas County Forest Products
*First Call Resolution
*Douglas Community Fund
The city release says staff looks forward to a grand opening celebration for the playground and splash pad project in 2018.
