A Roseburg man was caught after he ran from the scene of an accident on Thursday afternoon.
A report from Roseburg Police says that Rodolfo Loera drove off the road while southbound on Stewart Parkway at about 4:00 p.m. after allegedly falling asleep at the wheel. His vehicle ended up on a staircase that leads from the road to the eastside of Stewart Park. The wreck caused significant damage to the railings.
The man reportedly helped his wife out of the vehicle and then took off running. He was found later off of Lookingglass road and was detained without incident.
Loera was charged with driving while suspended, driving uninsured, failure to perform the duties of a driver and for a probation violation. He is being held without bail in the Douglas County Jail. The vehicle he was driving had to be towed from the scene.
