Three people are in the Douglas County jail on burglary charges.
Sergeant Brad O’Dell of the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office says that Sunday night at about 7:00 p.m. a deputy was dispatched to a report of a burglary in progress in the 600 block of East Third Avenue in Riddle. When the deputy arrived he observed a suspect in a camper on the property. The man refused the deputy’s orders to surrender and began running. O’Dell says the deputy captured 25 year old William McGarvey of Myrtle Creek.
He was lodged in jail on charges that include second degree burglary, unlawful possession of methamphetamine, escape, and for probation violations and warrants. McGarvey is being held without bail.
At about 2:50 Monday morning, a patrol deputy noticed a suspicious vehicle parked at the back corner of the Seventh Day Adventist Church in Riddle. He checked the vehicle and noticed property outside the vehicle, which was unoccupied.
Deputies entered the building and reportedly found 35 year old Amy Meyer of Canyonville and 32 year old Sara Raatz of Riddle. Both were taken into custody without incident. Meyer was charged with second degree burglary, unlawful possession of methamphetamine and for third degree theft. Raatz is being held on the same burglary and drug charges. Both women are being held on $100,000 bail..
