The Douglas County Fair will feature rock, country, alternative, and Hispanic music this year with one more performer to still be announced.
Monday morning Fairgrounds Director Harold Phillips met with the media to unveil the main stage lineup and talk more about this year’s fair.
Headline entertainment will include:
*Singer songwriter Melissa Etheridge on August 9th. Etheridge has been part of the American rock scene for almost thirty years. The award winning artist most recently released “Memphis Rock and Soul” last fall.
*Country and rock band Old Dominion will play August 10th. Described as “not your average country band” the group is described as lending old-fashioned charm, lyrical wit and rock n roll grit into radio-friendly hook-heavy pop nuggets. The group has been nominated for two County Music Association awards.
*Alternative rock band Papa Roach performs on August 11th. Formed in 1993 their first major-label release was “Infest” which went triple platinum. The four-person Grammy nominated hard rock group’s most recent release is F.E.A.R. which came out in 2015.
*A national artist yet to be announced will play on August 12th. Saturday will be designated the Day of the Family. Harold Phillips says an offer has been made to a well known national Christian music artist. The Saturday show will be held in the afternoon and will be a benefit for the Howell family of Riddle who recently lost six family members in a house fire.
Phillips says that show will be followed by the “Challenge of the Champions” in the Grandstands as cowboys try their hand at bull riding and bull fighting.
Harold Phillips says that all kids will be admitted free on Saturday. He encourages people to buy carnival wristbands prior to the fair at a thirty percent savings. Those wristbands will go on sale in May.
Also Saturday the Garden Park Stage will feature the highly sought after Hispanic Band Los Canarios in the early evening. Southern Oregon country group Billy Lund and Whiskey Weekend will also be on stage that night.
Tickets will go on sale for the Douglas County Fair on Saturday April 1st at 8:00 a.m. On-line sales will begin two hours later that day. All concerts are free with fair admission. Reserved seats are available for all main stage concerts.
