Hikers exploring the area east of Cottage Grove will want to avoid the Upper Trestle Creek Falls trail starting on Tuesday.
Cheryl Caplan with the Umpqua National Forest says that U.S. Forest Service officials are temporarily closing the 2.6 mile trail at two junctions with Brice Creek Trail during timber falling operations that are associated with the Parker-Wyatt timber sale. The trail is on Forest Road 2470.
Caplan says the temporary closure is expected to remain in place until the middle of April.
Other waterfall trails along that forest road that remain open for hiking include Parker Falls, Trestle Creek Falls and Brice Creek Falls. Recent rains are pushing a lot of water over the falls, making for a powerful experience at the falls, according to Cheryl Caplan.
