A Roseburg man is in jail after being chased by police who were trying to detain him for allegedly stealing the van he was driving.
Information from the Roseburg Police says that at about 3:00 p.m. on Thursday the owner of a van, which had been stolen earlier, spotted it being driven on Highway 138. When police stopped the van near the 2,000 block of Diamond Lake Boulevard, the driver fled on foot towards a nearby creek. K9 Axel tracked through the creek and found the 29 year old suspect hiding in some bushes about 50 yards up the creek.
Daniel Dyer was arrested without incident and was also found to be in possession of property from the vehicle, according to the police report.
Dyer was charged with unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and for a parole violation. He is being held without bail.
