A Roseburg man is in jail, accused to trying to elude police early Friday morning.
Information from Roseburg Police says an officer observed an SUV failing to stop for a stop sign at the corner Douglas and Jackson at about 2:30 a.m. The vehicle was reportedly going 30-40 miles per hour in the downtown work zone.
As the officer tried to stop the vehicle, it was swerving back and forth according to the report. The SUV then drove up a curb on Southeast Stephens.
The car eventually headed out West Harvard, and tried to turn northbound onto Hickory. The driver could not make the corner and instead crashed into a driveway in the 3400 block of Harvard, striking another vehicle and pushing it into a third vehicle.
The report says that 43 year old Oliver Campos exited his vehicle and tried to run from the scene. He was quickly detained. Campos was charged with two counts of attempt to elude and for reckless driving. He is being held on nearly $69,000 bail.
