Officials with the Coos Forest Protective Association are asking residents to remember that fire season is in effect, when they celebrate on the 4th of July.
Those using fireworks on their own should remember these fire prevention tips:
*Only use fireworks that are legal for use in Oregon.
*Always use fireworks in areas that are free of flammable vegetation.
*Remember that fireworks are not allowed on state parks and beaches, or on U.S. Forest Service or Bureau of Land Management land.
*Always have a bucket of water or fire extinguisher available.
*Always use fireworks as intended by the manufacturer.
Jefrey Chase of CFPA says that grasses are drying out fast and are easily ignited. You can get more information on the CFPA website and www.coosfpa.net.
